  • ·         Teenager Monica Aramburu was in 8th grade when she had her first child, she was a senior in high school when she became pregnant with her second child.

  • ·         Most teens drop out of school after they become pregnant, but Aramburu went to Bryant Adult Alternative High School where she and her baby could go to school together.

  • ·         Most estimates say that 60% of teenagers that become pregnant drop out of their school so they can support their child, but by going to the Alternative High School, Monica still got an education, and broke the cycle.

  • ·         When Aramburu was in seventh grade, she moved to a different school and met Mark Augment, who later became her child’s father.

  • ·         They started having sex when they were in seventh grade.

  • ·         They knew about condoms,” Aramburu said, “but were embarrassed to buy them and afraid to ask their parents for help.

  • ·         By the time she was in eighth grade, she was pregnant

  • ·         Her mother was so upset. "She could not even look at me," Aramburu said.

  • ·         She dropped out of her regular school and enrolled in night classes so she could hopefully get her diploma sooner.
